The 1000BASE-T SFP module (often referred to as an “SFP to RJ45 converter 10Gb” or “10G copper SFP”) is essentially a gigabit Ethernet electrical port transceiver packaged in SFP (Small Form factor Pluggable). Its core function is to provide a standard RJ45 interface for network devices that only have SFP optical ports (without native RJ45 electrical ports), such as switches, routers, firewalls, etc., so that they can use existing Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cables for network connections.
