QSFP DD-SR8-400G is a short-range optical transceiver based on multimode fiber. It serves as the primary solution during the early stages of 400G development, primarily used for interconnections within 100 meters between cabinets or within equipment rooms. By using a 1-to-8 (MPO-16 to 8xLC) breakout cable, a 400G port can be split into 8x 50G PAM4 ports to connect low-speed devices.

Application

  • The TOR switch is connected to the Leaf switch: in the same room, short-distance high-density uplink;
  • Breakout mode: The SR8 module is highly suitable for splitting use. Through an eight-split-one (MPO-16 to 8xLC) breakout cable, one 400G port can be split into 8 50G ports, connecting low-rate devices.
