MPO to 2xMPO (also known as one to two MPO conversion cable or MPO splitter) is a branch/conversion type fiber optic jumper mainly used for port splitting, rate matching, and backbone cabling architecture conversion in high bandwidth networks of data centers. This OM4 US CONEC MTP fiber trunk cable is mainly used to split 800G into two 400G cables, which is a very common cabling method in current AI GPU clusters (such as the InfiniBand network of NVIDIA H100/A100 clusters). One end is inserted into an 800G (such as OSFP/QSFP-DD SR8) optical module, and its output 16 core MPO connector is split in half by jumper wires, disassembled into two 8-core MPO connectors, and connected to two 400G (such as OSFP/QSFP112 SR4) optical modules respectively.
